spiderweb 2: hostile environments – migrants & immigration across species


we would like to extend this open call to worldwide participants, especially if you’re a refugee, asylum seeker, migrant or child of migrants from disadvantaged backgrounds, or someone who has an experience of migration (forced or not) and lived through its consequences, and who is committed to animal liberation.

for the second issue of 🕸️spiderweb🕸️ we are looking for works that reflect and explore how migration is a phenomenon that happens across species, how sometimes hostile environments are created for those who migrate, whether human or beyond-human animals, how human-made borders can affect us all, and how some groups (of humans or animals) are seen as ‘harmful’ to certain spaces only due to prejudice.

you can send:

  • poetry, fiction, essays, articles, chronicles, interviews, etc. of up to 1000 words
  • illustrations or photos in hi res (300 dpi)
  • please send .doc, .docx, .jpg, .png or similar type of files (not .pdf)
