About Us

Our Story

A group of friends and colleagues was created by group of friends with shared values. We left a large animal “welfare” organisation because we felt that their methods and values didn’t align with ours. We also know from personal experience that traditional organisational hierarchy tends to disempower marginalised identities and increases barriers to organising. AAA is for those who, like us, have been tokenised, bullied and purged from spaces that claim to be about liberation.

Collective power begins with collective care

We feel that as marginalised voices we have a valuable insight into how activism must be decolonised to be effective. The phrase “no one is free until we are all free” includes our non-human animal kin – but also all human beings. We don’t want a seat at the table; we want to build new tables! It’s time to try something new, and that includes the language we use and how we organise.
We want to find alternative ways of relating to ALL the issues close to our hearts, as they are all connected. We choose to nurture collective power through togetherness and worldmaking. Together we will envision a world where we can all co-exist with dignity

Our vision

A world where multispecies emancipation and radical love unite all beings in freedom, connection, justice, and autonomy.

Our mission

We nurture language, actions, and solidarity to build and grow a compassionate, decolonised world. Organising autonomously and non-hierarchically, we practise collective power and activism with kindred movements, uncompromising in our commitment to collective coexistence with all life.

Our core beliefs

We are rooted in multispecies emancipation: We reject the human-animal divide and other colonial legacies. We aim to organise autonomously as allies in the global struggle fight for emancipation – for humans and our ‘beyond human’ relatives; all humans and other animals.

We aim to create emancipatory Spaces: Liberatory spaces are brave, welcoming spaces that are grounded in care and respect, but also able to embrace and sit with discomfort for personal and collective growth and emancipation.

We nurture creative connections: Joy, hope, & creative connection is fuel for sustaining our movement. We will use our creativity to welcome others to join us in working towards freedom.

Our values

Expansive: We are a diverse group with a broad vision that goes beyond single-issue, vegan-centric action.
Evolving: We are against all types of discrimination. We invite honest feedback that contributes to our personal and communal growth.
Welcoming: We welcome people with open hearts, brave but tactful speech, and respect. We embrace everyone’s “becoming” over perfectionism — we are all learning.
Caring: We weave care, compassion, empathy, solidarity, and healing into all our actions.
Inclusive: We create safe and empowering spaces for those marginalised by the mainstream animal rights movement.
Aware of Privilege: We acknowledge that everyone has some form of privilege, including colonial roots. We are committed to learning about all forms of decolonisation and how we are shaped by the systems we live in.
